Are there actually any FREE and LEGAL satellites that a person can point a dish to and receive some tv ? I am in the east coast and have a 33 inch dish I can use. If there is more than one sat that fit the 'free and legal' description I could buy a motor. No sense in spending the money if nothing is up there. Not sure if I have posted this in the right area but it said "if you have questions".

Thanks for any response !!

Mods, can you move this to the Free To Air (FTA) Discussion forum.

Yes there is and you have the correct sized dish. All you need is a linear lnb. Check out lyngsat.com under FreeTV and KU. The guys here will be more than willing to help you get started. Also welcome to Satelliteguys.us.

I decided to remove my answer and replace it with this:

My post of 4 bird-lists for FTA:

Anything of interest to English speakers (see my answer in this thread for more details):

What's your favorite FTA channel:

Those three threads should give you some very good answers. :)

Welcome to FTA. Hope you have fun.

Looking at a full sky scan from last night (58°W - 129°W excluding pay provider satellites and including feeds at the time):

about 49% TV signals are Legal FTA.
about 63% Audio channels are Legal FTA.
