Bob was the one that did Monitoring Times Magazine and lives just up the road from me.
A man full of knowledge.

Oh man, you live near Bob Grove, wow, are you lucky! He is one of the greatest guys and is a walking encyclopedia of radio, electronics, TV, satellite, etc. Monitoring Times was a great, great magazine, still read some of my old copies. Thanks for the tip on the antenna book. He also wrote an autobiography, that was one interesting life story.

The Spectrum Monitor is a great replacement for the Monitoring times.
The last digital issue was 93 pages long and spongella had a great article

I built a X-Wing antenna from a Monitoring Times article, to listen to Portuguese pirates, who boot leg their signal trough a US military satellite.

To this day the pirates are still using the satellite as I can use my SDRPlay to copy them.

Until our recent move our house was filled with old Monitoring Times Magazines (along with WRTH and NRC). You live near Bob Grove! How many times I looked longingly at receivers, scanners et al at Grove Enterprises.
