Free Upgrade to a 622?

Negatory. I had only been on my 18mt committment for about 5 mts when I got (and took!) the offer to swap out both my 942's for 622's FREE! I think one of the previous posters may be onto something though with finding a correlation between 100% on-time payments and previous history & getting the call? I'm set-up with auto-pay through Dish.

I was offered the deal, and I am currently leasing one 942, and own the other. I only subscribe to AT60+, and old HD pack. Not a big spender by any means, but I've been a customer for 6+ years, have CC Autopay, so I have never missed a payment. Just steady income for Dish.

Auto-pay here too, no call yet... onto the next theory. Huge dart board? :)

I finally got the deal last night too after days of everyone at Dish denying it existed. The criteria will all be a moot point anyway. The guy I spoke to also said it will be made available to the general public in a couple days. If the new channels are released today like I read, they probably want more people able to view them. With the current HD offerings, there is not a lot of reason for people to upgrade unless HD locals are available in their area. By dropping the price another $100, they will get people to commit to another 18 months at higher priced packages.

I called to upgrade my leased 942 to a 622 4 days ago I stated that there was a deal i heard of "pay 200.00 now get rebate when return 942 no 99.00 installation fee" CSR never heard of it and checked with supervisor. I opted to go ahead with upgrade paying the 99.00 extra i have july 2 install date Im In Ct need second dish to pick up SAT CSR said there was a back order on DP 44 making my install date a month away. Can I call back and try and get the 99.00 charge refunded or cancel and reorder seems unfair some get the deal and some dont

Yes I would call back although you may want to wait a couple days since your instal is not schedued til July. This deal will be made available to the public then. Right now the CSRs don't know anything about it and will give you a hard time. I had an install scheduled for this weekend and cancelled it. Then they called and offered me the better deal which I took. But it took a lot of grief and numerous phone calls and emails.

Got the call in Tampa

Don't know if we have locals here yet, I use OTA, but I got the call a couple of days ago. No deal. I am waiting patiently for my FiOS TV from Verizon to be installed with all locals in HD as well as...

810- TNT HD
811- ESPN HD
812- ESPN 2 HD
817- HD Net
818- HD Net Movies
819- Universal HD
820- Discovery HD
821- Wealth TV HD
822- National Geographic Channel HD
823- MTV HD
HDTV Premium *
814- NFL Network HD **
830- HBO HDTV
831- Cinemax HDTV
832- Showtime HDTV
833- TMC HDTV
834- Starz HDTV

$39.95 for all their channels including HD + $11.95 for all movies minus HBO&Cin + $12.95 HDDVR lease + $3.95 SD rec lease = $68.80+tax

My neighbor already has fiber and the PQ is incredible. BTW, the rep that called me insisted that Fiber was from the Cable company, not phone. LOL! I guess all those Verizon guys laying Fiber Optic cable through our neighborhood for months was just to help out Time Warner that is now filing suits to try and stop fiber in Tampa. I have the funny feeling cable rates in Tampa are about to crash. Those reps really have not clue, why do they bother opening their mouths.....bye bye Dish :wave

I got the call last week and decided to accept it today (within 7 days). I called the Dish 1-800 number and went directly to tech support. The CSR had a record of the previous call, but stated that the offer listed included an upgrade fee of $299 with a $200 credit. I stated that this was not what was offered earlier and we went back and forth for a short time before I asked for a supervisor. When I got to the Account Specialist, she had access to the correct promotion information and all went smoothly from there. She could not explain to me why her screen had a different record of my phone conversation last week than the screen tech support had access to. She read the promotion sheet to me, and the only criteria mentioned for receiving the offer in what she read was that the customer have a 942 receiver with "limited HD service". Not sure what the latter statement meant.

ooooo, how I wish they were here in my town, instead of the "we know what's best for you"-family-owned podunk cable monopoly we have now. :(

Probably meaning those that have the old original HD pack instead of the higher-priced metallic packages.

So if the new "free" swapout is being made a "public" offer in a couple of days, does that signal there will also be a reduction in the lease "upgrade" price for new customers to $199 from $299?

You would think so, given that the free swapout is being structured as a $199 lease plus a $199 credit to one's bill.

Also, is the timing of all this corresponding to the trade show that is starting today?

I would bet that they keep the new customer price at $299, but make the swap out for "free" deal wide spread. I think they may have finally learned that they need to make sure to hold on to the customers that they have (especially the higher end HD customers). I for one have decided to hold out. Not that I expect a better deal than free, but because I love the stability of my 942. I have very very few problems with it right now and I would like to wait until the 622 is in the same boat before I make the switch.

Or more specifically, don't have the MPEG-4 capability and hence the ability to receive the "new HD channels" and current or future HD LiLs...

I got called four times last night. I asked them to call me back in the morning and didn't get any calls. I'm now playing CSR roulette to try and get somebody who knows how to do this.

Customer Service In India

After about 10 frustrating phone calls of trying to get through to the right department and countless unanswered emails, I just cancelled my 622 upgrade that was scheduled for this weekend.
I refuse to pay $299 for an upgrade that other people are being offered for $199. I have been a Dish customer for over 10 years and have never dealt with such incompetence in a customer service department in my life. They were perfectly happy to just cancel the order and it probably would not bother them if I cancelled Dish altogether.

I had the same experience with Customer Service. I was supposed to have my 622 installed yesterday but the 622 unit never came. I was on the phone for hours trying to get someone to help me. Seems as if it has gone down the sh*tter. I could not get anyone on the phone in the United States, everyone was from India (&%$#@*&) I cannot stand that. They are like robots reading from a book. Anyway, they apparently overbooked appointments more than the amount of receivers that had to offer/ship out, so they rescheduled my appointment for the 15th.
Still trying to speak to someone in the US I tried the Live Chat, (at least this way I couldn't tell,LOL) and for security reasons I'm not aware of they didn't tell me. After about 10-15 mins online with "Dan" I come to find out that they are now back ordered 30+ days and I am scheduled to receive my 622 box on the 27th of June. I went Ballistic!! I wanted to rip out the whole system and get Direct TV. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. I literally hung up the phone while online with this guy and the Indian Lady did not know the units are back ordered 30+ days and this guy does. The Customer service has gone to Hell!!! Haven't decided what I want to do yet! Just hoping I get the 622 by the 15th.

Ok I finally got in touch with the right people. I was able to upgrade to a 622 for $199 and I will get my $200 credit when I return my 942. I upgraded to platinum so I guess I will have everything now. My install is set for the 16th but it is very possible that I will get my reciever before then and can reschedule the install. All in all I'am pissed that I asked the CEO address for this very same promotion 2 months ago and they completely blew me off but now I can watch the World Cup in HD.

Wow this is a great deal...I was holding off on the 622 upgrade for one because I didn't want to go to a metal pack.. question if you have one 622 on your account (and no other receivers) is there a lease fee?
