It's been a long time since this was discussed. It appears Frndly still carries about a half dozen "superstations" in several markets. Do you need to be in that market to get them, or do you get them all if you subscribe? How does Frndly determine your location?

wouldn't they check your ip addy and determine it that way :what. i remember when i had netflix i used a vpn and got content from other countries!!
When I use my Starlink Mini system, the assigned IP address usually geolocates to a few hundred miles away from my actual location. Tethering to my phone gets similar results. My current Spectrum IP address geolocates to Chicago, when I'm actually in Upstate NY.

I don't know the answer to that but they have a free 7 day trial so you can test it to see.

They're only available in those markets. I signed up with them for a year around the time they added them, but I wasn't able to get any of them where I'm located. I never experimented with a VPN though. The stations they offer are mostly Independent stations owned by Scripps. One of their CW affiliates is listed for some reason.

Thread you were part of when those stations launched. In this thread you even said you changed your IP address to get one of the stations

Nothing has changed. And they are NOT Superstations. They are Independent stations with some oddball programming ;)

I'm aware of that. That thread is over two years old. Wasn't aware there were some secret moderator rules that disallowed me opening a new thread over two years later to ask if anything has changed, but there do seem to be a lot of self- proclaimed moderators around here. Notice I began my OP by saying "It's been a long time since this has been discussed here."

Sigh.

I have a Frndly sub for my wife. She only uses it for a couple of channels, mainly History and Hallmark. Anyway, It's probably not much help but I don't receive any of the six locals here in Abq. I haven't tried a VPN to change my endpoint. Those channels aren't of interest to me.

I guess you sparked my interest a little so I did some digging. It appears that all these channels have similar programming named "The Spot". KMCI, Kansas City, MO allows you to watch online. The others may do the same thing. I didn't go much further.

I like watching the news from back home, but I can do that via other means, I just thought it would be nice to have all those channels from different markets to scroll their evening newscasts. KMCI shows news from KSHB (NBC).
