espn posted a press release this morning about longhorn network going live wednesday. it also said to expect watch espn to go live in either late february or early march.

They don't have much room to add more channels until D14 is activated.

Since none of us here know for sure, why don't you call and ask Directv yourself?

Which has nothing to do with adding a sign-in on watchESPN. What is taking so long?
it takes about 2 months to create a decent authentication process that is accuarate. if watch espn is done in late feb or early march, as espn says, that's 2 months (maybe a little longer but it was the holidays when the deal was announced).

I didn't call them, but I emailed them. This is their reply. I also asked about the insane amount of banners in the guide recently. As expected, nothing useful. This is their reply:

My name is Stephanie and I am an email specialist from DIRECTV’s Email Department. Thank you very much for writing today. I see that you are one of our long time customers and we appreciate your business. I understand your concern about getting watch ESPN and the ads on your program guide. You have reached the right department where we can certainly help you with your concern.

We value your concern about the annoying banners in your guide, so I have forwarded your complaint to DIRECTV management. While DIRECTV Management can not follow up with each customer individually, rest assured every suggestion and inquiry from our most important customers is reviewed to determine what changes should be considered.

Now that DIRECTV has entered into a new agreement with Disney/ESPN, we're happy to confirm that we'll be a participating provider for Watch ESPN and Watch ABC in early 2015. In addition, whenever we add channels to our lineup, we release a statement to the press, so keep an eye on the news to find out about the newest channels or visit our web site at directv.com/pr.

Interesting to contrast that to Dish - everyone gets Longhorn Network with AT120+. Direct appears to be treating LHN as a true RSN for Texas and needing the Sports Pack everywhere else.
which is the opposite of what Directv and Dish do for BTN
Directv-everyone
Dish-in AT120+ in BTN states.....sports pack for everyone else
