Future use for mobile on ATSC 3.0?

Unless phone makers see some kind of financial incentive to put hardware on the devices to tune in and decode ATSC 3.0 broadcasts the only way you're going to see ATSC 3.0 on mobile devices is if receivers in the home add that feature in the future. Since gateways are frowned upon by the DRM enforcers, it's not likely you'll get 3.0 on phones. Furthermore, I doubt the ones behind the DRM tech or patent holders would ever come to an agreement with the phone makers to allow use of the technology. LG is a good example of how those crooks forced a manufacturer to abandon technology.

I think they'd rather just produce TVs as-is now without the 3.0 equipment built-in. If 1.0 was to shutdown completely, they'd probably just produce displays without any tuners. That would be cheaper anyway with less parts to add to the screen. LG's going to protect its pocketbook and avoid any chance of future lawsuits from the patent trolls.
