I give up!!!!! Been reading all the posts that I can to help but can't get a signal for galaxy 10. My zip is 95062. I hooked up my old dish from dish net and got it to work on the couple of station that are not scrambled, but can't get my wineguard 76 mm to work. I think I am suppose to be pointing the dish to 181', with a elevation of 46. thanks

Thanks! That helped me get it. I am not sure that I am getting all the stations but don't want to mess with the dish yet. In fact, the cable that ran from the dish network wasn't pulling the signal from g10,( it worked for t5 and echo 91), so I ran another line to the back room that is near the dish. Works great!! It will do for now. I did find that the sat finder wouldn't work intil I got close to the satellite. Then it worked fine. Before it would not vary. Thanks again!!

Well, I got everything hooked up and running. The only trouble is that the receiver seems to only work in the back bedroom. I had it in the working in the living room, went out to celebrate and found when I came back that the signal was gone. Am I to far away from thedish? I have about a 100 ft. of cable in use. If that is the problem can I get a signal booster to bring the signal back. Thanks

If your cable is OK, 100 feet should be fine. Be sure that you're using RG-6 and that all of your fittings (F-connectors) are tight and properly installed. Is there anything inline between your dish and your receiver, such as a barrel connector splice?

tron
There are two barrel connections. I am thinking about moving the dish closer so that I can eliminate all the connections. But the cable did work for awhile. I moved the receiver back to a back bedroom and it works fine. Would a signal booster help?

I would not waste your time with any kind of in line amp/booster. A complete run on new cable should do the trick!

I always use quad shield coax and don't run into any problems with distance or interference.

My three dishes are about 180' from the house and then another 50'-60' throughout the house and I uses no type of amplifier. When I first started FTA I was sure I needed some type of booster. But turns out, I didn't, I just needed to ask a few more questions to the forum.

Thanks for the advice! I am going to run the cable through the house without any connections and see what happens. I have one more, I should another question. I am not getting CBS from VI. Should I? Should I scan it again? I was going to buy a coon skin cap and proudly wear it,but I guess I better hold off for a while. I had told my wife that we would pay the fta equiptment off in no time by not paying for the dish net. The way it is going it may take a little longer. Also, I though that the local stations, NBC, would come in alot clearer. So now I need to get a outside antenna.

I ran a new cable through the house and the signal held. Have order quad cable so I can get the cable out of the bath room. Thanks again!!! I still can't get CBS. Does anyone have any advice? I tried to get it before the hurricane, so I don't think that is the problem.
