Local talk show in Birmingham said that he was sick longer. He did not want it revealed.

I remember him as a player. Great player!!!

Maybe now, the new rep for the players can get some help for the retired players. I still don't understand why he was so set in his ways to not do anything.

On a NBC backhaul about a month ago, the announcers were talking about him. He played great golf but looked in bad shape. They speculated he may of been sick. I can't remember if it was Madden/Michaels or the golf announcers talking about it.

I think the NFL owners just got their pants back with Upshaw's death.

As for his playing days, that's before my time of caring about the NFL, so I can't comment on him as a player. Only as a union rep.
