I just wanted the International channels on 121 and I dont have clear access to 61.5 or 148. Can i use the regular 18" dish to pick this satellite up or do i need i bigger dish because i heard that 121 is low power or low signal satellite and i will need the big superdish to pick it up or maybe dish500 with single lnb Thanks...Also all i want is international channels and not 119 or 110 channels. I will install the dish myself.
thanks

You need a bigger dish to receive 121 because it uses an FSS satellite which has less power than the DBS satellites. The lower the power that a satellite has the larger the dish has to be. A dish 30" or larger would be needed (the size of a PrimeStar dish for example).

That is interesting. I imagine that FSS MIGHT be able to be received on a 24 inch dish but would be harder to find the signal and would be more susceptible to rainfade.

The other problem is that 121 cannot be received on a standard DBS LNB. You have to use an FSS LNB. This means that an LNB from a dish aimed at 148 or 61.5 cannot pick up echostar 9 at 121.

The FSS LNB is a different frequency and polarized in a different way than the normal LNB. Also you need at least a 30 inch dish with FSS LNB as a standalone dish option.

However I was able to get a free 121 superdish by subscribing to German TV for a year. You can try that option as well if you don't mind the commitment.
Hint: buy your international channel on the annual price and no worries.

You may have a problem with 61.5 dish because if you get superdish you'll need a dishpro series LNB. So confirm whether you have dishpro or legacy series (hint if you have an SW21 switch that's legacy but DP21 is dishpro). Also superdishes normally come with a DP34 switch installed but you'll need a DPP44 switch instead if you want to include 61.5 into the mix (make sure you mention that). Because of these requirements it might not be totally free. My superdish was free but six months later I paid $100 to add 61.5 into my system for Voom.
