Getting rid of commercials

New to this DVR stuff. Still learning the 942.

Is there a way to edit out commercials while recording a OTA program. Will the pause button also pause the recording?

No to both questions. If you stopped the recording, it would re-start as a new recording at that spot. You would have a bunch of 7-8 minute recordings, all separate.

We kind of assume you do know how to use the skip-forward 30 and skip-back 8 seconds buttons. 2 to 10 hits of skip forward will get through the commercials, just have to learn what is needed for different shows. Say you go one beyond, then 4 backs will get you close. You decide if fast forward/back can be used to fine tune.

Of course with the 921 not responding nimbly, it can be a hassle.
