Has anyone here had any luck getting the Dish Land line fee waived if one cancels one's land line?

I am about ready to ditch ours as I can't remember the last time we used it but hate that Dish will fine us if I do.

I'm hoping that I can threaten to make the switch to U-Verse and they will give in.

Thanks
David

Feb 1 dish started waiving the fee on the first dual tuner on the account, not sure how soon it will take effect on existing customers.I have put in several new connects in the last week that the workorder itself had that the fee would be waived

Thanks. That would be better then nothing. I give them a call tomorrow and see what I can find out.

my 722 was burnt and had to be replaced. Long story short, replacement took 8 calls and 3+ hours on phone, on last call I went on and complaint about my situation they waived $10 fee on both receiver as courtesy and I truly appreciated it.

FYI, It was indian CSR, not coloradoan, they were actually rude....

Well get this.

I just got off the phone with Dish and managed to get both receiver fees waived.

The customer service rep was no help so I mentioned since my contract was up that I would like to cancel my service. She said I would have to speak with a Loyalty specialist (or some such) and got me to a real nice lady.

I explained to her that I was getting rid of my landline and was afraid that since Dish was going to start fining me $10.00 a month for no landline hooked up that I would like to cancel. She immedialtly agreed to waive both fees and put an exception on my account.

So times, they are a changing!

theres a report verizon bleeding landline customers is going to offer a 5 buck a month incoming service, without outgoing service. perhaps it will permit 800 calls.

This is how the phone line charge/credit is showing up on my bill now, Dish is calling it "TV2 Receiver Connection", so it appears that at least on my account the $5 would be charged if I didn't have the 622 call Dish once a month. (I "force" a call to Dish once a month, I don't have a convenient phone jack close to the 622 and I just hook a line up to it once a month to dial home. I bought a cheap extension jack off ebay but it won't actually dial out, it does keep from getting the message "connect your receiver to a phone line or broadband" when the 622 is turned on.

I called Dish just yesterday about upgrading to HD and asked them about the "tv 2" and any fees for not keeping your phone line hooked. I told her we have NEVER had a phone line hooked(we have been with Dish almost 10 years) and we live in an old house with 1 phone jack and so it was impossible. The rep told me it would be no problem and that they would permantly waive the connection fee.

So we will see if that sticks. I just wanted to put that out there for people to know if you tell them its impossible and insist it just can't be done, they may give you a break.
