Getting Your Xbox 360 gamer tag to additional units

Does anyone know if you can get your xbox live gamer tag to additional 360 units without doing that whole recover thing?

I like to bounce from my home (1 unit) to my girlfriends house (2nd unit) and I would like for it (gamer tag) to register on both without the recover thing
