Just a few hours from now it will be 2026 here in the USA. For other parts of the world you are already in 2026... so Happy New Year to All.

2025 is a strange year for SatelliteGuys, but good news is we survived. And even better news we had a big outpouring of financial support over the past week from our members so we can keep this place going way into next year without me having to pay the costs out of my own pocket! To all those folks I say THANK YOU for your support and help in helping us keep the lights on. This outpouring of financial support was very surprising and very much appreciated!

Now on to 2026!

2026 is going to be a year of Change for SatelliteGuys... yeah I know people hate Change... but one of my main goals of 2026 is to get more people involved and participating in the site.

Now the number of folks visiting the site is still amazing, just this month alone so far we have served 9,672,591 pages to 2,244,708 unique visitors!

The issue is many people are reading, but most are not participating. I would love to see more people participating!

But let's be honest not many people are talking about Satellite as (again being honest) there is not much to talk about in the world of Satellite. Therefore in 2026 we will be changing our name to a new one which hopefully will let people know we are so much more then just Satellite. And since TV is a large portion of what we talk about here we are going to put TV in our name. Soon in 2026 SatelliteGuys will be known as...

Yes folks... TVGUYS.US will be our new name. The logo above is not our final logo... but I do like that the TV is... chatting about TV. Here we can talk about TV, the hardware, the programming, the distribution methods (Satellite, IPTV, Over the air) and so on.

But that's not all I have been going through the site and taking notice of what are some of the most popular topics here outside of the Satellite areas, and many of them are within our Pub Member area. I plan on adding a bunch of new forums dedicated to what has been and is popular in our Pub Member area. I realize some folks may not like this as they like the privacy of chatting in the Pub Member area... well for those folks they can continue talking there as well. But I do hope over time they will help us and participate in the public version of those topics that we will introduce.

In addition there will be additional new forums, and the forums layout will be a little different in order to show folks we are more then just Satellite. And with that said I know some folks hate change... and I am one of them. But for us to survive and move forward some changes are needed. And while the changes will move some stuff around, I do not expect it to be a drastic change. I hope everyone can accept these changes.

As always I would love feedback and new ideas. And if someone wants to help us and moderate a forum I would welcome that as well. The more people we get involved the better this place can be.

I have said it before but will say it again... we have an amazing server, we have the best forum software running the best forum add ons, we just want more people to use it.. and participate in it. This site is is like the field of dreams... and with a little work it is my hope more will come and be part of our family.

Ad revenue for the year is way... way down... but the way I look at it, that's ok... SatelliteGuys was never formed to make a profit, it was made for people to come together to chat about common interests. And with the recent wave of donations I am actually considering making the site ad free... at least for awhile.

Since moving off of AdVally (who never paid a cent for the few months we were running it...) we moved back to our previous 3 ad agencies. And in that move here is our earnings (so far) for December.
Google Adsense - $9.07
PubGalaxy - $16.08
MoneyBox - $66.82

I am not sure if I will drop all ads or keep only MoneyBox. I am worried if I drop them and then try using them again a few months later that they may turn us off for inactivity.

So I need to figure out if we go ad free for a bit or just keep one ad agency. And if I keep one ad agency my plan is to show ads only to the Unregistered / Not Logged in users. This could foster more people joining us and in turn because they are now members may actually participate... and that would be AMAZING for me.

So in closing much needed changes for 2026... and again I know people hate change. So I hope folks will give it a chance.

And let me say again a genuine THANK YOU for all the surprise donations given to us over the past week. As I explained in in the Pub Members area, seeing all those donations come in made me feel like George Bailey at the end of the move "It's a Wonderful life." Thank you for putting your trust in me and for giving a complete strange money to keep this site going. That means a lot... so once again THANK YOU.

2025 sucked for most of us, for me personally it was a tough year, especially with the loss of my mom back in August. But we made it through 2025. When you are down the only direction to look is up.

Thank you everyone! I wish you all Love, Peace, Good Health and Happiness in the new year! Happy New Year to all!

And now a live look at Time Square.

Remember when "Change is EVIL" meant opposition to things getting different?

Now it means "What am I gonna do with these useless metal discs?"

I applaud you're plans and I'm going to focus on a word you emphasized and that is "discussion". I'll use one example Ham Radio 2.0. The entire content is links to 465 videos, that's not discussion, that's presentation without interaction. If there is some value to that in a "discussion" forum I'm not seeing it but if it is indeed deemed to be of some value then I will once again offer my earlier suggestion of requiring a "VIDEO" prefix for the links. In view of the upcoming changes I have renewed membership. Good luck Scott.

Remember once again unlike most forums, if you don't like a forum or category you can remove them and no longer see them.

The video section is popular and works to keep people here which is an important metric, its called "bounce rate" I do expect a few more good tech influencers to be added. But again anyone who does not want to see them can just hide them and be done with them.

Thank you for your support. :)

Scott - I assume you will still own satelliteguys.us and it will redirect to the new domain?
Of course!

You can go to tvguys.us now and it comes here. :)

Because of of our mods we have are no longer made are registered to satelliteguys.us if I changed the name those mods would stop working.

So we will ALWAYS be SatelliteGuys, but we will be known as TVGUYS going forward which is good, as I know so many people who have trouble spelling the word SATELLITE. :D

I bet satellite might make a comeback. How about SAT/TVGUYS for a while and see how goes it in the future!

Hiding the forum does not seem to keep the new threads/video links from appearing in the "Latest posts" box to the right of the screen and it's those links that are misleading. You glance over and see what appears to be something interesting to read and discuss so you click on it only to find it's just another video with no discussion. Hey, it's your forum to run the way you see best, I'm just offering an opinion as to why some folks might loose interest.
