...announcement to be made early next week after the 49ers conclude their season.

Finally!!! After running Lloyd Carr out-of-town for finishing with a pair of 8-4 seasons (and winning a National Title along the way), the program brought in the likes of louts such as Rich Rod and Brady Joke to tag-team dismantle 40+ years of winning. Anyway, we finally hired someone with brains, brawn and an ability to actually coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Things are looking up in Ann Arbor. :)

While things would be looking up in AA IF that happens, it hasn't happened yet.

I expect that it will happen in a few days, but I think the NFL will do what they can to keep him, the money Michigan is throwing around, 6 yrs 48 M is major money in College, tops so far I think is Saban at around 7-7.5ish ...
8M in the NFL is NOT anything unusual.

I really hope Harbaugh does come to Michigan, they need a top notch coach badly.
Harbaugh will bring in the recruits and wins eventually ... don't expect miracles ...
It will be nice to see other coaches that can coach at a high level in the Big Ten, eventually the conference will move up the ladder in respect ...
They currently have Urban Meyer and Mark Dantonio and thats about it for top notch guys ... I expect Penn States guy Franklin to do very well eventually.

If Harbaugh does come to M, it will be a good sign for the Big Ten as a whole.

Fwiw, Michigan has looked at other NFL coaches as well, most are established where they are so I doubt they will be going anywhere.

John Harbaugh, Sean Peyton were the two Major names I heard, Buffalo's HC also was mentioned, Cowboys Jason Garret (should be signing a new contract soon) and a few others.

Watch what happens with this years contracts .

Michigan has to be very close or more than what he can get in the NFL.
You will likely see top college coaching salaries go up this year too, some already have. Top NFL paying jobs and top college coaches have become very comparable in salary, and will likely stay that way.

Michigan EXPECTS to Hire Harbaugh on Tueday ...

Well see if the NFL has anything to say about it, more coaches are getting let go today in the NFL.

Michigan is probably hoping to sign him QUICKLY before all the coaching vacancies appear in the NFL.

Many College coaches look at the NFL to make more money (many don't make it in the nfl) but see a big difference in pay, I think that is coming to an end for the Top coaches anyways, thus you won't see many making the jump in my opinion.

Hmm, you would think this would be an easy thing to do, but what happens if they hire the wrong Harbaugh ? :biggrin

Actually, John might be the better hire, but John has no desire to leave Baltimore.
