Has trade-in price of iPhones been going UP?

I dont have accurate data on every point, but...

A few months ago, the 4S was around $135, and I thought it would go down.
More recently, it was about $200.
Now it's around $225 (?).
I'm looking for a clean used 4S, but at these prices, I'd better look for a smashed one!

The 4 had been ... maybe in the $100 neighborhood.
Month ago, I got $140!
Now it seems to be $150.

There had been some ups 'n downs, too, but I wasn't tracking them.

Anyone care to offer a reason, or any projections for the future.?
This is as wild a ride as Apple stock prices.



edit: I look only at AT&T handsets.

Probably the giant flood of them from the iPhone 5 release has worked its way through the market. I would expect the prices to eventually start drifting down.
