I have a complaint about the free weekend. Until Sunday night I could not get a guide in advance on the HD channel so that I could record some movies being shown late a night (one at 4 AM) that I wanted to watch.

What is up with that!?!

What is the purpose of owning an HD (VIP622) settop if I cannot at least record something in HD especially when the free preview weekends happen.

Just a little something about the free weedend the bother me. I will now go back to semiseclusion!

So why not set up the timer with a start time and an end time for the apropriate channel? Probably take an extra 30 seconds to do it right?

I thought the weekend was a bust beacause there was noting worth recording for me. Sure made my decision not to re-subscribe easy.

I wanted to record movies in HD. This is my first DVR and I usually just find what I want to record and press record and the appropriate settings and leave it alone. I have no idea how to record by setting a specific time on and time off. Besides, it was after the Sopranos on Saturday that I actually found a movie in HD that I wanted to record and it was at 4 in the morning. When I learn more about the 622 I will probably be able to do what you guys are suggesting. However, I still think it is cheap of E* to kill the menu on free preview weekend!

I also did the check switch and it did nothing for me -- oh well, I really must learn more about the 622.

Actually, this time we recorded a lot. Although the lack of descriptions had us guessing. One movie turned out to be in Spanish, I guess we should've figured that out, others turned out to be soft porn. But it looks like we'll be watching other stuff we recorded, several hours worth. They had some good classic movies on. If we see another preview weekend where so much interests us, we might subscribe. We recorded almost nothing in prior previews.

Hbo Hd

I do not have HBO and I had no problems with getting the free preview including HBOHD. They located it on I believe channel 293 for the free preview. Yes it was irrating not to have the movie details listed on those channels. I just went to the location of where HBO, etc is located normally and read the descriptions. Then went back to the free preview channel to set for anything that I wanted to record. A pain yes, but I survived. :)
