My dad has an HD compatible TV but currently has no HD tuner for the TV. If he subscribes to DISH will their HD receiver provide HD to his TV or has that ship sailed for him?

He's had the TV for six or seven years if I remember correctly.

My 6 year old 65" Mitz RP HDTV has no HD/digital tuner. HD looks great from my 722 via component (red, blue, green inputs for video). Like Gary said, as long as he has component inputs he'll be fine. I think its possible he might have a DVI input as well. If so, just pick up a DVI to HDMI cable. You'll have to use a composite (red/white) for audio in either case.

Make sure inputs are labeled Pr Pb Y and not R G B. The signals are different, Y is the luminance IIRC and the P's are difference signals like R-Y and B-Y for current TVs. RGB is the older red green blue direct signals as for computer monitors.
