I recall I saw a post here to the effect that Dish has an HD Demo/Calibration channel. I haven't been able to found one. Is there such a thing and if so, what channel?

There is a HD Demo Channel on the 61.5 satellite, however there is no calibration channel. The closest you are going to find to a Calibration Channel is occationally HDNet runs HD test patterns so you can better set up your self.
