I thought it may be useful for HD DVD owners to share sources for great prices on HD DVD. :)

So, I' start with one I found today: Warner Brother's Online Shop. Their site can be hard to navigate, especially to just browse HD DVD only. So, start by clicking here.

I just found this today and don't know how long it will last, but use the coupon codes below to get 28% discount & free shipping:

USD - 10% discount applied to your order
WBNEWS - 20% discount applied to your order
USFS - Free Standard shipping applied to your order.

Free shipping is standard for orders over $60, but using the USFS will give you free ground shipping for orders of any amount.

The 20% discount is applied to your already 10% discounted order, so the combination works out to around 28%. They charge sales tax only for states were they have a physical presence - those WB stores in malls. I didn't get charged sales tax for Arizona.

I picked up some older releases - Batman Begins & V for Vendetta (I have the DVD versions) - for a total of $28.73, no tax or shipping. :up

I'm still debating whether to go with the The Matrix Trilogy (3 HD DVD's of the movies only, $79.95 before discounts) or the Ultimate Matrix Collection (3 HD DVD movies plus 7 standard DVD's of extras, $95.95, before discount.

Also, another good site for non-Warner HD DVD's is hdmoviesource.com. Their prices are usually a little higher than Amazon.com, but their shipping for new releases is terrific! I've ordered Babel & The Departed from them, and had them by the release date. They just shipped The Good Shepherd today, so I'll have it by next Tuesday. They charge $4.50 shipping per order for USPS Priority Mail, so it works out better to combine orders. I included A Scanner Darkly & Harry Potter Goblet of Fire (U.K. Import) with Good Shepherd.
Use NEW10 for a 10% discount for new customers
Use custom5 coupon code for a 5% discount for repeat orders.

Anyone else have some good bargains they've found? :)

UPDATE: (For some reason, I can't just edit my original post)
- Pretty fast shipping; Batman & Vendetta ordered last Friday arrived today. The USFS Free Shipping code no longer works, so your ordered needs to be $60 or more to get free shipping. But the 10% & 20% discount codes still work.

I went ahead and pre-ordered the Complete Matrix Trilogy ($57.57, after discounts) & Letters from Iwo Jima ($21.56) for May 22. :up

There's a limit on how long you have to edit your posts. This is because some folks went back to make themselves err- "look good." I thought it was 2 weeks, but I gather it's a lot shorter now.

Well I decided to go and buy the matrix on the web site, but they wouldnt let me use the coupon codes :( So i guess ill just have to wait.

You gotta get 'em while they're hot! :p

It was apparently a one weekend promo where all those codes worked together. I tired it this last weekend, to pick up the two John Wayne movies releasing June 5 (The Cowboys & Rio Bravo).

USFS = Free Shipping on orders under $60 still works by itself, but NOT in combination with any other coupon code. (As the site indicates, shipping is always free for orders $60 & above.)

WBWEL = 20% Discount, a new code I found on AVSforum. Only works by itself, not in combination with any other coupon. So, this is your best bet for The Matrix.

USD = 10% Discount still works by itself only, but what's the point when you can get 20% off? ;)

Also, they don't charge your credit card until the item ships, so no problem with pre-ordering well in advance.

I went to the Hdmoviesource.com and ordered my Matrix with taht code for 10% off earlier today :( oh well i still only paid like 64 for it!

Good choice as well; I use HDmoviesource when I want something fast. Last Sunday in support of "Buy HD DVD Day" I ordered 2 of this weeks releases, Smokin' Aces & The Game, and next week's release (FINALLY!) of Digital Video Essentials. Glen let me know he was going to hold back shipping until today so he could include DVE. Just got my shipping confirmation this morning, should have them by Thursday. Looking forward to DVE to fine tune that 2 1/2 yr. old Sony 1080i rear projection HDTV, and the analog outputs on the XA1.

New customers can use new10 coupon code for 10% discount, repeat customers can usually get a code for 5% off. All this week it's hddvd5.

Just wondering if u have any more discount codes. Im looking to buy some more movies and those end up saving alot of money.

For HDMoviesource? He (Glen Mulder is the owner) runs periodic discount codes, I don't see anything right now. Best thing is to watch his sticky thread on HighDefDigest.com

For the WB store, WBWEL still works for 20% discount, free hsipping on orders $50 or more.

The Warner Home Video store has a new High Def storefront. Much easier browse HD releases.

Their current promotion through May 31 is an "automatic" (no coupon code needed) 15% discount, with free shipping with the purchase of 2 or more HD titles. But the discount is off their prices, not list price. For example their price for Blood Diamond HD DVD & Blu-ray is $19.95, so with the 15% discount, it's only $16.96.

The WBWEL coupon code still works for 20% discount, but can't be used with any other discount, and the order has to be over $60 to get free shipping. BTW, their free shipping is excellent - I pre-ordered Matrix Trilogy back in April and received May 21. :)

I've been waiting for "300" to be listed so I can make a pre-order over $60 for the 20% off + free shipping. It was decision time for me - my first sizable pre-order since I bought a PS3 a few weeks ago & went dual format. I had thought I'd switch to BD for combo titles, especially since WB is now using TrueHD on blu-ray. Using HighDefDigest listings:

300 Blu-ray:
Exclusive HD Content
* None

300 HD DVD:
Exclusive HD Content
* IME Picture-in-Picture Commentary
* Interactive Game

And with the discount, the HD DVD combo is only $2.40 more and I get an extra SD DVD version I can use on my laptop or loan to family. I decided combos aren't so bad for $2.40, I'm sticking with HD DVD. ;)

The Cowboys - HD DVD, $15.96
Rio Bravo - HD DVD, $15.96
Blood Diamond - HD DVD, $15.96
300 - HD DVD, $23.96
Total $71.84, free shipping

And for pre-orders, they ship as they become available, so I'll get Cowboys & Rio Bravo on June 5, Blood Diamond on July 3, and 300 on July 31. :up

I'm set for most of the summer, and don't have to go near a "Best" Buy.

Amazon Buy 2 get 1 Free HD DVD Sales!

Amazon is having a "Buy Two HD DVDs and Receive a Third Title for Free" sale going on. From the Amazon Web site:

Select any three titles from the list below and get one of them free. The promotional discount will be applied at checkout. You will see a credit in your shopping cart. Limit two of each title per customer. Quantities are limited; order now before we run out.

Put 3 titles in your cart. Do NOT use "One Click Checkout", but go through the steps. AT the final phase with the "Complete Your Order" button, you should see a credit for the lowest priced HD DVD given as a credit. Works with Free Shipping. If you have the 10% Discount from last year, it's even better - the 10% is taken off the total price of the 3 selections BEFORE the price of the 3rd disk is taken off. I've placed two orders of 3 each for $33.91 (with my 10% discount) - $11.33 per HD DVD!

Ok, here's WHV's the November 25% Discount Code: NVBM

Shop Warner Home Video's online store and get an additional 25% discount on their already discounted prices: shown as regular / 25% discount price)

Ocean's Giftset (Ocean's 11,12 & 13): $59.95 / $44.96
Ocean's 13 only (11&12 avail. only in giftset): $26.95 / $20.22

Harry Potter Years 1-5 Giftset: $110.95 / $83.22

Harry Potter titles are avail. separately: $22.95 / $17.22

Most 'catalog' releases are $19.95 / $14.97

Shipping is free for orders totaling over $50. They do charge sales tax for Calif. and other states in which they have a physical presence, including those Warner stores in malls. Lucky for me, no tax in AZ.

If you order includes a mix of catalog and different pre-orders, they ship separately what's already released, and pre-orders individually as they release. They will post a temp. authorization on your CC card at the time of order, which goes away. Then they charge per item as they ship.

Their website it very Firefox-unfriendly. Is there some alternate link that might list their titles? I can't even see what they've got for sale.
