I've had Direct TV since 04 or 05

I'm just curious how much a HD DVR would cost per month.

What does the itself DVR cost?

A dvr is $8/month for the dvr service. That's for the account, not per dvr. It is $6/month for every box except the first one on an account, whether a regular box or a dvr.

I thought I heard that it is $199 for a HD DVR.

That's the standard lease fee just to acquire it. Directv often gives deals off of that price. Call and ask!
