Hate to sound like a broken record, but I live in the 13th largest DMA and we're not even on the list :( Instead, smaller markets like Raleigh and San Diego are already active??? I don't understand. Sure would like to be able to record two or three HD locals simultaneously on my 622.

I'm with ya. I can't believe some of the cities that are on that list and here in Vegas nothing?
Come on...I am losing patience

The decision to add HD locals was based on several factors.
1 - they can only uplink so many HD channels from a given region
2 - the availability of HD OTA in that market (ie in some areas the entire DMA or nearly the entire DMA can receive the OTA signal with a set top antenna, in other places like Milwaukee there are parts of the city that can not receive an OTA signal without a very large antenna)
3 - the ability for the stations in a DMA to give them a digital feed, not pick it up from an off air antenna
4 - got a quarter ?

In Vegas it really easy to pick up HDs using some OTA antennas, indoor and outdoor.

Why not Fox??

 Not that I watch it that much anyway, but why in some areas like Sacramento we still don't get Fox for both Dish and Directtv? The fourth station with Dish is the WB and for direct is UPN (soon to become CW) and BOTH don't have Fox!

Poke do you think you could refrain from posting that every couple of weeks, tis quite annoying

Dish is only adding 3 more markets this year. Live with it.

Yeah, something's wrong with the list for Sacramento. The only channels available in HD are ABC, CBS, NBC and WB. Fox and UPN (CW) are not, and I get the feeling that's WAY down at the bottom of Dish's priority list. They are more concerned with adding other cities than getting a few more Sac locals in HD. Plus I've read that Fox has not at all been cooperative in contract negotiations with Dish. They are not really interested in getting uplinked.

Thanks foghorn, do you happen to know a good indoor antenna that picks up local hd's?
I have now tried a bunch of indoor and outdoor and cannot get a consitent signal. I refuse to put a big old fashion antenna on my roof. If there is something indoor that works I will give it a try.

Su Meri,
I was worried about getting good reception so I bought a $80 Terk from Circuit City that would only pick up UHF stations. I was sacrificing ABC to pick up the others clearly, or so I thought. I found an old set of rabbit ears and swapped it out so I could see Dancing. These old pieces get a fairly strong ~68/100 and they are nothing special. It probably isn't correctly alligned and the station is 33 miles away in a dark blue area according to antennaweb.org . Both these antennas are indoors, but the one I bought has hardware to mount indoors or on a pole outside.

A question appended to this reply, can I set it up so both antennas are connected at the same time? They need to be pointed in slightly different directions (26 degrees for the new one and 57 for the ABC station). Thanks.

Get a small outdoor and put it in your attic if you don't want it on your roof. You will probably have to aim it between the the two towers since it appears the Vegas stations are in two slightly different directions. From your posts it sounds as if multipath is probably your problem and an indoor antenna just doesn't work very well in those conditions unless you want to constantly be adjusting it.
