HD on both tuners?

I read in this forum somewhere that TV2 (second tuner) only does 480. I am sure this must not be correct but I wanted to ask here: I have the 722. I can record two HD programs simultaneously and the playback will be HD right? Even though one of them has the TV2 icon next to it?

Correct, but if you output to a second TV it will be in SD.

There are 3 input tuners OTA, 2 satellite all are HD. There are 2 outputs one is HD & one is SD. You are confusing outputs with tuner inputs.

Now my week is complete. I've seen this question answered again.

If you playback an HD-recorded program to TV2, the sides of the picture get cut off. The 16:9 aspect is truncated to 4:3 with a hatchet on each side of the picture. I would have preferred letterboxing, but that's not what you get.

Ahh. Thanks. So obvious, but yet so out of my initial grasp. I feel like an idiot. Didn't look around for that "format" button...
