I currently have two 500 dishes and receive programming on the 110, 119 and 61.5 satellites.

Will I need to update my dishes for HD if I upgrade to a 722 receiver?

If not, does Dish still need to have a service tech. install the 722 or will they let me do it myself?

Thanks.

Pending where you live and what sat your HD locals are, you would need to do one of two things.
1. Go fully Western arc with a 1000.2 dish to pick up 129 instead of 61.5 OR

2. If your locals are on 61.5, switch to a 1000.4 Eastern Arc dish to pick up 72.7, the sat that HD channels on 61.5 have been migrating to. With only 61.5, you are missing several HD channels that have been added in the last few months.

What receiver are you upgrading from?

I live in the Minneapolis area I'm upgrading from a 522.
I had HD a year or so ago (using a 211) but dropped it.

Your locals are on 129, so unless there is a LOS problem, you should be on the single dish 1000.2, or have your second dish pointed at 129. Single dish would be most preferable.
