HD Tivo and Vonage

I have a past thread on here where I finally got the HD Tivo to make the initial call. However I want to get it to where I no longer get the nag screens.. The Vonage guy said they are telling all of their customers to get a USB to Ethernet cable and the Tivos will call in that way over the internet.

He also said I could get a wireless USB adaptor that would communicate with a wireless router and get the updates through the USB port. He said I just had to have made the initial call so the USB port was active.

I am seeing mixed things on this and most say you have to usb a serial port connection.

How should I approach this? Will a USB wireless adaptor work?
 
Hey Al,
the USB to ethernet or USB to wireless ethernet will work on the stand alone TiVo's but not on our HD TiVos/D* TiVos

D* has not enabled the USB ports for us to use.

I personally use a serial connection for the dial out process. granted this does not happen automatically, but this will get rid of the dialout nags.
