Does anyone have a list of Hard Drives known to work with the 722k? Also, does the usb port need to be activated by Dish before adding the drive. thanks again for your help.

The primary consideration when choosing a EHD is it must have an external power supply. I believe u can use up to 2T.

Ross is correct on both counts. Plug it in to the USB port and follow the directions, you shouldn't have to contact Dish. The WD Essential models work great. You can get a 2tb one from amazon.com for something like $89 delivered the last time I checked. Yer welcome!

As long as the external HDD meets these requirements it will work. With the ViP DVR receivers you won't need to contact us for activation.

  • USB 2.0
  • External power source (not powered by the receiver’s USB port)
  • Minimum size of 50GB
  • Maximum size of 2TB for DVR receivers
