I have been offered a free whole house DVR from direct TV as a self install..My question is, Can I just switch out the HD reciever I have with the new one? If not, do I have to run new lines? What is entailed with the upgrade? Thanks!

Sorry, but if you have to ask that question you probably shouldn't do a self install.

Now having said that. What equipment do you have now?
What receiver(s)? What dish?

I'm going to assume that DirecTV has offered you a Whole House capable DVR. Not all equipment needed for a Whole House installation.

H20 is what it would replace...I can do the install, it's just that I have never had a DVR...Do I need to run an extra line to it? I installed my current system...
