I will soon be getting D* HD Receiver installed - I presently have Comcast, with their receiver I go from HDMI OUT to a IN of my Pioneer AVR.....and an HDMI OUT of AVR to HDMI IN of my HDTV.....thus, both picture and sound signals are transmitted via that one HDMI cable - for great PQ and Sound.
I have heard, hope this is NOT true that with my new D* HD Receiver - you cannot to what I just described - that you must use HDMI straight to TV and used Optical/Digital separate for the sound. Please tell that this is NOT true?

Just got an unexpected shock about something concerning what I will receive in HD.....I researched, of course to see what HD programming I would receive from D* vs. Comcast, and saw that it would be LESS than what I was accustomed to....BUT I kind of took it for granted that at least my Locals would be in HD. Just read the fine print of my order - at the very bottom, D* states they are sorry but at this time my local channels are NOT in HD - WOW!
Have to keep telling myself - BUT "LLOK at ALL thhe menye your saving each month!" [about $25-30] In for a penney - in for a pound!

TKS;)

Using HDMI to your AV receiver shouldn't be a problem. There have been some reports that some makes of AV receivers may not work. How old is you Pioneer?

As for your locals you'll just have to be patient. My area just got HD locals on 11/23. And then not all of them, as our CBS affiliate is still in negotiations. Luckily I can get them OTA, albeit spotty at times.

THANKS! My AVR is like 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old - its a Pioneer 1018. That's GOOD news - mine will probably be OK - hope so. It's been several years since I used SAT....I never viewed SD on Comcast.......would only watch all their HD channels......will be forced to go back to SD with this economics forced change to SAT.....hope my memory is correct....I remember the PQ of SD via SAT as pretty darn good....not HD, but not that far off??? {Can I CON myself? - hee hee]

If you are really in Beaverton, then you do get your locals in hd. What is your zip code?

97008 - Dat is GOOD NEWS! I thought I did......took it for granted......but then that statement by D*............sounds like just a mistake now.

You know that old saying, "believe half of what you see and none of what you hear"!
