Head-End System Setup Question

Here is the basic setup. I want to use two 722K DVR receivers. Two satellite cable feeds go to a central distribution cabinet. From there all of the system is fed. I have 2 HDTVs in different rooms and 3 sd tvs in other rooms.

I want to set up the 2 DVRs in Single Mode and have each of the receivers send HDTV signals to each of the 2 HDTVs via a stereo receiver (component1 = receiver1 and component2 = receiver2). This should allow up to 4 separate programs to be recorderd and/or viewed on each of the 2 HDTVs.

I then want to use 2 modulators (1 for each receiver) so that I can select 2 different channels (say 110 for DVR1 and 116 for DVR2) to also view the programming from each of the receivers in SD (I don't think modulator will modulate HD) on any of the tvs in the house.

How do I set up the cabeling for each of the DVRs to the Stereo Receiver so that the receiver actually controls the sound and picture for the options I outlined above?

The house I am renting has a HDTV cable feed and also a cable feed from the distribution center to one HDTV location BUT only cable feeds to all of the other rooms including the one where I want to place the other HDTV. Can I get HDTV to any of the other cable outlets using the std cable?

I have 2 DP34 Switches that I can use if I need them.

Does your receiver have the ability output two HD video feeds at the same time? Most have only one HDMI/Component out.

No, the 722 does not output HD via coax cable. The second TV coax out is SD, only.

OK I think I get what you are saying, my only question is do you have 2 stereo receivers (one for each HDTV) or just one, and expect it to be able to provide switching for two separate TVs (They do exist, just are pricey)

If you have 2 stereo receivers and they provide component video switching, the process you want sounds pretty simple. You will only be able to use component between the dish receivers and the stereo receivers as HDMI can't be split. you would split the component, and audio outputs from each dish receiver's TV1 output so that each stereo receiver gets a feed From 722k (A) and 722k (B). Run whatever HD cabling is necessary from the stereo receivers to the HDTVs (Note, must be component unless your stereo receiver converts from component to HDMI) For the three TVs that are SD, all you have to do is go into the menu on dish receiver A&B and change the modulator settings to the channel you want the feed from each receiver on. Reverse split the "Home Distribution" ports from each receiver with a 2-way splitter to combine the two outputs, then split the combined signal with a 3-way splitter to each of the three TVs

You might want to consider getting an HDMI Matrix Switch (such as this one:[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001K2F24G"]Amazon.com: Cables To Go 40444 4x2 1080p Version 1.3 HDMI Matrix Switch (Black): Electronics[/ame]) instead of this crazy set-up of cables and splitters and stereos. This would allow you to connect 4 HDMI devices on up to 2 HDTVs, and pick which one you want to watch where. You could then have a PS3 and an XBox 360 in there and share those between the TVS as well. There are even HDMI Matrix Switches with built in CAT5 baluns that allow you to send HDMI over much further distances via much cheaper CAT5 instead of HDMI cables. Best of luck to you.

Sounds like you don't need a pair of 722s as badly as you need a pair of 722Ks running Draco on a Windows Media Center box. Unfortunately for you, Draco's still pretty much alpha software, and it's only working with a single-tuner box at the moment, but...

(2*722K) = 4 Sat + 4 OTA tuners, add Draco and SlingGuide, put a $100 MCE box on each TV, and enter High Definition Television euphoria.
