Hello everyone, just wanted to say Hi. I just joined these forums and I also just moved over to Dish Network after being fed-up with DirecTV's awful service department. My 622 was installed yesterday and I have to say that I'm happy with it so far. Still have a lot of features to look over. One thing, right off the top of my head, I have the received connected to my computer monitor using Component cables and the picture is sharp and clean but it appears washed-out somewhat. Would the quality improve if I use the HDMI output to connect to my monitors DVI input? Is there any way to make picture adjustments on the receiver itself? Anyway, don't want to start firing off too many questions for fear of getting banned. Thanks

I just received the 622 two weeks ago and tried component and HDMI / DVI on my Sony RPTV. I actually get the "washed out" look connecting HDMI / DVI. My component connection looks much better.

Most TVs and display types have separate settings per display type. Also, HDMI sends a digital signal, while component sends an analog signal, depending on your computer monitor, one of those signals might need a digital/analog conversion. So, it is almost certain that the picture quality will be different, though there's only one way to find out if it will be better ;)

If you decide to try the HDMI to DVI route and need a new cable, be sure to check out www.monoprice.com (a pretty popular name around this site), they have great cable pricing.

As far as adjustments are concerned, I'm not aware of any you can make on the 622 side, you'll have to do all of the work on the monitor side.

Finally, welcome to SatelliteGuys, and don't sweat asking questions, that's a big reason why the site is here ;)
