I currently have a Dish 500 with a DP Twin pointed at 110 and 119, connected to a DPP44 switch with 4 rcvrs (2*301, 1*508, 1*921). I have acquired another Dish 500 with a DP Twin that I now want to set up to add 129 to this setup (mainly to get Voom HD). I have never installed a dish myself before!

I will gratefully accept any assistance from the wizards on this board regarding how to install, connect, aim, etc this 2nd Dish into my setup.

My Lat-Long is:
38° 22' 15" , -122° 39' 11"
38.3709 , -122.6531

Thanks in advance for all help!

The search button is your friend, but you may have trouble getting the search titght enough.

First, cover the 110 LNB eye with foil - it's NOT going to be used. Second, disconnect a 301 or the 508 from the DPP44. Now connect it directly to the 119 side of the LNB. Select 129 in the point dish screen. Aim the dish. Reconnect everything with the new LNB on input 3 or 4 of the DPP44. Run Check Switch on EVERY receiver.

Thanks!

Anyone know where I can find azimuth/elev/skew information for 129 (it's n/a on the point dish screen)?

Also, what's the best transponder to use for pointing 129?

Tia,

My 129 dish is a d500 pointed about 20 deg west of my 110/119 dish and is the same elevation as the 110/119 dish.

i have a portable dvd player with vid input and an old 301 that i bring out with me and hook next to the dish so i can point the dish, works well.

So, I can't just use the dish I currently have pointed at 110/119 without having to cover one sat? What if I just point to where 129 is? will it still find it ok? thanks!

Coverinng the 110 eye with foil keeps the confusion factor to a minimum.

If you don't cover it, you aren't going to "know" which eye is which, and when hooking to a switch, you really want the 119 eye to be th active one.

no success on my attempt

I tried to swing my second 148 dish over to 129 to no avail-I even used my satfinder tool and couldn't get anything resembling a strong enough signal. No obstructions whatsoever and the same dish picks up all other locations with no problem(except 61.5 due to hill next to home) when I pointed it towards them to test the dish/lnb. ***UPDATE*** Found out that I was peaking 129 with no problem, but my 811 doesn't want to recognize it after a check switch. I then pointed dish over to 61.5 just to satisfy my curiousity and i'm receiving it, albeit with very low signal (50-60).

Hello Simon,

Over here on this post,

http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=66374

I read this,

"DP Twin - Picks up the 110 & 119 - Can feed 2 receivers directly OR be connected to another switch. When connected to a DP34 or DP+44, you need BOTH lines connected to these switches."

Since I have a DP Twin which I will hook up to a DPP44, can you confirm that with the foil over the 110 eye, I only need to connect the 119 cable, despite what this other post says about having to connect both lines?

Thanks,
-Keith
