Hi,

I did a search and cannot find the answer posted. Our 501 remote broke and we received a new one from dish. I cannot for the LIFE of me remember how I changed the old one from remote 1 to 2. I have a 510 Downstairs, and a 501 upstairs. I need to change the remote/501 to remote 2. I did it before, but cannot remember how. Hope someone can help!

Thanks
Jim

Change the Address
Because UHF signals travel long distances and go through walls, a
neighbor’s remote could control your receiver by mistake. To handle this
problem, you can change the remote address.
1. Make sure you turn on the TV and receiver.
2. Open the Important System Information menu by
pressing the receiver’s front panel SYS INFO button.
3. The Important System Information menu shows a
Remote Address.
Write down this number: .
4. Press and hold the SAT mode button about three seconds, until
all the mode buttons light up, and then let go of the SAT button.
5. Use the number buttons to enter any number from 1 to 16, but
not the one you found in step 3. The SAT mode button goes out after
you enter each digit, and then lights up again.
Write down the number you enter: .
6. Press the POUND (#) button. If you entered the address correctly, the
SAT mode button flashes three times.
7. Press the RECORD button.
8. This is important: Make sure the Remote Address you see on the
Important System Information menu now is the same as the one you
entered in step 5. (If it isn’t, the remote can’t control the receiver.)
9. To check the address in the remote control, press and hold the SAT
mode button for three seconds. Then, let go of the SAT button, and
press the POUND (#) button twice. The SAT mode button flashes the
same number of times as the address you entered in step 5.
10. Press the SELECT button to close the Important System Information
menu.

Thank you very much. It's a real remote control again! I really appreciate the information!
