I have Dish Network and I received a free Comcast Xfinity Universal Remote from a friend of mine. I would like to program my Dish receiver to my Xfinity remote....

Can anyone help me out....Roger

Look on the Comcast website on how to program remotes.

DISH remotes are very inexpensive on Ebay. Unless you must use the Xfinity for some reason don't even bother.

If your Dish remote is broken, Dish will send you a new one pretty cheap.

I doubt your going to get it to program.

Just like you will not get a Dish remote to work with a Comcast Box.

For less than $10 you can pick one up on eBay

With the protection plan, Dish will send you one for free. They expect them to regularly break.

The OP has a free remote. I was once able to program old Media One remotes to operate Dish receivers back around 2001 or so, I would imagine it's still possible today, if that's the remote he chooses to use.

Universal Remotes aren't really universal. Usually they will give you some functions on a given device, but not all of the functions that are on a matched remote. To get all the functions that are on a Dish remote, your best bet is to get a remoted matched to you receiver. Depending on what receiver you have, you may be able to get one from someone who has upgraded to a newer receiver. If you have a 722, I would gladly send you the remote from my 722 for the cost of postage. It was left here when I upgraded to a Hopper I also have 1 from a 211.

Doesn't really matter as the IR remote codes are all the same anyways.

Only remote that is different was for the old 7200 dish players with the web tv client.

It may matter if the receiver in question is actually a DVR.
