Hi! I have what it seems to be a real pain in the ... for all of us here, when tryig to point a Dish, a bunch of trees right in front of me, my apartment is on the west side of the building, and my dishes (300's) are pointed separalety, since i can't get anything with a Dish 500 for more than one bird, but i need to get the international channels on 118.7, for which a Dish 500 plus is recommended, just like this one

Dish Network Dish 500 Plus Dish500Plus 110 118.7 119

Can i do this with only one dish? and if so, what will be the size? can i use the dish 500 plus with just one LNB? type of LNB is it Universal? or ust one low freq circular lnb?
Thanks

Doesn't the 118 use circular polarity? I think I remember it being the only FSS sat that uses that. So a 121 lnb might see the sat, but not process it. Not really sure, but it seems like thats what would happen.

If you can see 119 you can see 118 with the same dish. You may not be able to get 110 on that dish depending on your trees. As for the polarity, I don't know that answer but I do know that I have seen more than a few PLUS dishes picking up 121 when they were supposed to be pointed at 118. Never checked to see if the channels were working though.

You could put up the 500+ in place of the dish you currently get 119 from and leave the 110 dish in place. The 500+ uses an external switch so having two dishes is not really a problem for it.

He will need a 118/119 assy from a 500+ and put it on the SDish, the repoint kit has a 118/119 LNB and a 110 LNB I paid $50 for just the 118/119 part, did not need the 110 LNB

The assembly from a 500+ will not fit on an SD dish. To use an SD dish, he would have to get a repoint kit.

Like I said, he can get a 500+ to replace his 119 dish and still keep his 110 dish in the mix. The 500+ would essentially be a 300+.

If you want to drill new holes to rig it up, you can put a standard 500+ LNB on a SuperDish, but to do it right you need a repoint kit.
