My house currently has 2 room dish network. I want to include a third room which has a cable outlet in it. I have looked at how the Dish Network man installed the Dish and cables. I notice that there are two cable running from the satellite and into the Wall Outlets in my attic which in turn go into the wall outlets in the rooms. I was wondering if I could use a splitter on one of the two cables running directly from the satellite and hook that signal into a receiver that i bought on Ebay, would it work? Would using a splitter on a cable make the signal too weak? Thank you for your help.

Will not work, there are plenty of threads here that go into great detail, try using the search function.

Chances are you have a DPTwin on your dish. To upgrade to 3+ rcvrs, you may need a DP34 switch. Best place to put that would be in your attic. Two lines from your dish to ports 1 and 2, take the three lines to receivers off of the bottom ports.

After that, run a check switch on all rcvrs and everything should be fine.
