on 622 in dual mode--Can someone tell me how to stop a tv2 live recording? If it's only TV1 then I can stop it by changing channels and it will tell me if I change I will stop recording. But if only TV 2 is recording it will let me change channels but if I try to stop or delete the program it tells me I cannot while it is recording. I thought I should be able to swap to tv 2 and stop it but nothing happens. The only way I found to do it is to go to the other room where tv2 is and change channels and it will let me stop. My510 I can just hit stop.

Also, if I switch to single mode am I able to record two programs at one time?

(I think it would be much easier to have two 612's than 1 622 for two tv's)

What do you need?

Do you need to be able to watch 2 different programs on the 2 different TV's? If it is OK to have the same program on both TV's at same time then go into single mode. Then you can stop the record w/ main remote. If you need the 2 diff programs then the onely way is to use TV 2 remote to stop record. Single mode also gives you a PIP as well as your swap.

And the only way to switch to single mode is to find that little button on the DVR?
Then I would be able to switch to TV2 and stop recording? What a hassle. I guess two 612's would be better for me. If they'll let me trade....but then I would have TWO monthly service fees..Of course I would have twice the recording capacity and could tape 4 shows at once. They act like being able to use the 622 on two tv's is so great, but listen to my husband when I'm taping a show and watching another and he wants to watch his sports on TV2!!!

Had this problem yesterday, in the end I just went upstairs to TV2 and changed channel, which does give the popup to cancel the recording. I just rescheduled the show for a later time when I knew TV2 wouldn't be in use.

that's what I ended up doing--going in the other room and stopping it. Also you notice you can't record on tv1 and change the channel to watch another show. Supposed to be able to record one and watch another but you have to record on tv2 to do that. And if you set it to record in advance, it doesn;t let you choose which one to record to. So you have to change the channel to stop the recording, then go back and start recording again in TV2 and then go and watch what you want. (and forget about someone else watching something on TV 2 while you're doing that)

You're all working too hard. ;)

With TV1 remote press DVR button twice for Daily Schedule. Select program that's recording. Timer/Delete/Stop recording?/Yes.

All the symptoms you describe are features not bugs.

If you need to watch another channel while recording you MUST be in single mode. It has always been that way. Alternatively, start a recording of the channel you want to watch on the other output and watch it with play.

That does not work--when you hit yes it tells you the program is recording and can't be stopped.

I thought you had to be in dual mode to record and watch another because you would need two turners. If you can in single mode then that might be the answer. I'll try it. Thanks.

You can be in dual mode share and you can schedule TV1 or TV2 records. But that leads to other problems as well. But if you are in the standard dual mode it is exactly like having 1 single tuner satellite receiver (TV2) and 1 single tuner satellite receiver with an OTA receiver (TV1).

In dual mode:
TV1
- you can watch a recording from the library while recording something a satellite channel, OTA channel or BOTH.
- you can watch a Digital OTA channel while recording a satellite channel
- you can watch a satellite channel while recording a Digital OTA channel
- you can watch a recording from any point while its being recorded.
- you CANNOT watch one satellite channel while recording another.

TV2
- you can watch a recording from the library while recording something a satellite channel
- you can watch a recording from any point while its being recorded.
- you CANNOT watch one satellite channel while recording another.

TV1 and TV2 are independent receivers in one box.
You wouldn't want to have some one stop your recording in your personal receiver if it were a separate box so some one else can watch another program. That is why the 622 doesn't allow TV1 to stop TV2's recording. It is a SAFETY to prevent the kids from stopping Daddy's porn recording! :)

In Single mode
- You can watch one satellite channel while recording another satellite channel and/or OTA Digital channel
- You can watch an OTA digital channel while recording two satellite channels
- You can watch a recording while recording two satellite channels AND an OTA Digitnal channel
- You can watch a recoding from any point while its being recorded while also recording two other programs.
- You have full PIP functionality.
- You can use the "swap" button for dual buffers so you can watch two live programs, pause one for the commercials, swap to the other channel, until it goes into commercial, swap back and skip forward passed the commercials to the where the first program continues... I've watch sooooo many football games this way. :)

In single mode, you have one receiver that can feed the same channel to as many TVs as you want.

See ya

Just tried it again and it works for me. You have to be in DAILY SCHEDULE. Press DVR button twice, or Menu-7. Go to recording program...Enter...Timer...Delete....Yes. I've done it a half dozen times today.

Also, you can set Record Plus to TV2, so it will be the first to record. If you do an overlap, then it goes to TV1.

A trick that works for me: menu 6-1-3. Before taking you to this system information screen, it will tell you it has to disrupt TV2. After leting it run its test, you can cancel out, and the recording will have stopped.
