Here we go again. Duke Nukem Forever to be released May 3 2011

I thought this game already came out...

The Escapist : Video Galleries : Zero Punctuation : Viewer's Choice: Duke Nukem Forever

Seriously I remember playing Duke Nukem 3D back when I was in 8th grade over a 56k modem connection attached to my Packard Bell 133 mhz computer with 16MB of RAM and 1 MB of Video RAM. I should have made bets with all my friends that the sequel wouldn't come out until after we graduated high school. I bet everyone would have taken me up on that. Game looks interesting if for no other reason than I don't think any of us gamers though this game would ever come out..

Duke and Doom was my favorite games on my old windows 95 PC, both games on floppy and had to launch them in DOS.

If I recall duke required a cdrom drive while doom had disks..

Maybe it was but I do remember having to load it in DOS. The first quake game was floppy if I remember right. It was so long ago. Lol

I don't think Quake was floppy based either because it had Trent Reznor composing the music, and they wouldn't have been able to include the music unless they used CD-Rom. I remember I would play Quake with various music CDs in my drive and I got to listen to like Dave Matthews while I blew away crap.

I'm expecting an average FPS, but I'll still get it. Can't resist the urge to "come get some". XBox 360 is my platform of choice.

Reviews have been very mixed. General consensus seems to be that the console versions suck in terms of visuals and loading times when compared to pc. I'm willing to bet it was because the game was never meant to be on consoles and they just did a quick dirty port in order to maximize profits on it. Hopefully I can find out which console version sucks less by Monday so I can have the best version in my gamefly queue to be shipped out. Still, i am psyched for this game just from a curiosity and historical standpoint. I'm interested to see what 3D Realms left cooking for 13 years.

Update: found a comparison video on YouTube . Pc version is definitely superior. Can't tell in terms of 360 vs PS3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et7MeOIp_V8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

And another one, focusing just on ps3 and 360: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgejVvb8YCE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Finally, someone recorded the loading times. Prepare to be amazed, and not in a good way at least on the 360
