This may be a little off topic, but i did see discussions around Xbox and I wonder if the Vip boxes may enable similar technology. thought it might be of interest

HDBeat offers up some tips and tricks on how to get HD working well over Wi-Fi.

In tinkering with a Media Center PC streaming HD content to an Xbox 360 via WiFi, they bump into fixable bandwidth trouble.

If you're looking for a non microsoft HD media center, check out the Roku HD1000. There are a lot of 3rd party apps for it that allow streaming of dvd, mpeg2 HD transport streams, etc. There even is a MythTV frontend being built for it.

Roku has a deal on their website for remanufacturered units for $200.

You can configure it to use wireless but I wouldn't suggest it. I have it hooked to my wired 100mbit home network, and can stream 18+Mbit/s streams to it no problem.
