For those interested in "rolling their own", this design has worked out shockingly well for me as a simple to build UHF panel antenna. Its performance is similar to a 4 bay bowtie antenna but I believe the angled bends of the elements allow it to capture more of the vertical polarity signals. I get a 20 mile distant UHF RF30 station non-line of site over rough terrain reliably with this design. Google "gray hoverman" for more details, it was a huge deal pre-Covid.
