Hitachi PJ-TX100 Projector Under $1200

Under $1200 shipped to USA.

This is a Japanese company that buys locally in Japan, and ships internationally.

The PJ comes pre-set for Japanese menus. But, is easily changed to English. The manual is also Japanese, but an English version PDF is available for download.

This projector absolutely ROCKS. Google the model number for reviews. It has a US MSRP of $3499.

Just remember that many Japanese consumer electronics are not compatible with US broadcast standards. Any sort of tuner, whether it's TV or radio, would not work. Projectors, cameras, camcorders, monitors, should work OK.

However, many Japanese consumer electronics have Japanese language menus and controls on the unit and/or remote. Please research before ordering.

In the case of the Hitachi PJ-TX100, all controls are in English, and the menus are easily changed to English.

Japanese tuners are NTSC-M, just like in the states and canada...A Japanese television will work just fine in the US. FM Radios cover 76 to 92MHz, so you could listen to your PBS and College Radio stations and the audio from Television channels 5 and 6 in your area, thats about it..

The other thing of note is, Japanese Electronics are designed to run on 100V, versus the 110-120V in the US, as well as some areas of Japan have 50hz AC (Eastern Japan, such as Tokyo, Sapporo, Yokohama, and Sendai) while the rest use 60hz AC (Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima), While most Japanese electronics will autoselect 50/60, it should be noted that some will not work correctly on 60hz power (clocks and anything with an AC motor such as appliances). Otherwise, the power connectors are identical, and should function correctly.
