Wow!! What the hell is happening in Duck land? Funny, I don't remember EVER a time at The U where 4 players were arrested in one season....let alone ONE MONTH!!!

Another day, another Oregon problem

When will the bleeding end for Oregon?

The latest is Oregon coach Chip Kelly announcing Sunday he had booted Jamere Holland from the team, in all likelihood because of the receiver's expletive-filled posts on his Facebook page.

That was just the final act of another bad weekend for the Ducks. Hours after coach Kelly met with reporters Friday to reassure Ducks fans he had control of the team, linebacker Kiko Alonso was arrested early Saturday for DUI.

Running back LaMichael James, 20, was arrested last week on a domestic violence charge.

Kicker Rob Beard has been cited with investigation of misdemeanor assault in a Jan. 24 brawl that left him seriously injured and involved other players, one of whom, walk-on Matt Simms, was booted from the team.

It's been a rough month for the program.

Holland was a talented but often troubled receiver with great speed who transferred from USC but never broke through. He was academically ineligible for the Rose Bowl after catching 17 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons.

Here's The Oregonian story, which includes information about Holland's unwise Facebook posts.

A Miami fan, trash-talking about arrests? I expect the Olympic gold medal game to be played in hell, now... :)

If you just count current players, they're ahead.

If you count former players, though, Orgeon may have to go to the back burner! :D

One of the problems of being a player's coach is that often the players will take advantage.

The incident with Blount's reinstatement will make establishing control over players a problem for years to come. It isn't the severity of the punishment, it is the certainty of punishment that has the biggest impact.

Never had the U have 4 players arrested in 1 month. But, funny you mentioned that. They were talking about this very thing in the afternoon Dan LeBeatrd show...and he stated that in the 3-5 years that Urban Meyer has been at Florida, he has had 27 players arrested for some reason or another. WOW...27! They had Antwan Bolden as a guest, and when he graduated from high school...he was Mr. Basketball AND Mr. Football for the state....and stated there was a bunch of guys that were BETTER than him. They just couldn't hack school. And then the discussion became VERY interesting, and if you think about it...you could see it. ALMOST every team that had championship teams, those years, they had plenty of players on the police botters. The Miami, USC, Colorados, Texas, Nebraska, Floridas, Florida States and the Ohio States. ALL had a few, some more than others.....guys arrested from petty things like disturbing the peace to assult and battery. They talked about every time they lowered the standard just a tad, the football records would improve....but the police blotter would get blotted. It was a very interesting conversation with Antwan Bolden. They had the almost the same conversation with Earl "the Pearl" Monroe last Wednesday.

Just do a search in google for "college football players arrested" ....and you get 780,000 hits.

How did that guy PTI (yesterday) put it? If you have a lot of arrests, you must be getting close to a National Championship. You would think MSU would be right on the brink.....
