How does Dish Network Receivers make home town channels available when you travel "Out of the viewing area"?

My son has a receiver in his camper. It is setup with a
zipcode for Boston, but he goes to Florida and still receives
Boston Channels. He goes to Indianapolis and still gets
Boston channels.

I thought these receivers were only good for the programmed home zipcode area.

What actual channels are you referring to? WSBK and NESN can be available nationwide on a conus broadcast.
