Three companies jointly owned Cingular. Then two merged. Finally, the third merged, after Cingular absorbed AT&T. But with the 3 companies now one, they decided to go with the AT&T name, which has more name recognition. For good or bad.

I agree with the post above qwitcherbitchin! There will be something you don't like in everything. It does not matter whether it is satellite, cable or whatever. It is TV just enjoy it and relax!
