We are considering installing the H3 now and purchasing the joey access point and wireless joeys later.
Any reason not to do this? It seems that it would save the initial $25 ea and the monthly fee.
Can the joeys stuff be purchased and added without any interaction from Dish?
Do the joeys have to be registered with Dish? Any problem doing that?
What is the difference between a joey and a joey2?
Can the 4K joey work with non 4k TVs?

Thanks, OB

Don't know about H3 now/wireless Joey later.
Last 4 questions:
- You'll have to interact with Dish to add Joeys.
- You'll pay a monthly fee for each Joey, so yes, they have to be "activated" (registered) by Dish
- Joey is much slower than Joey2
- The 4k joey works fine with non-4k TVs. Almost no 4K content exists, so the 4K joey is almost always doing non-4K

Thanks for all your responses.... We have signed up for the H3 with 2 wireless joeys.... I have been told that the joey 2s cannot be connected wirelessly... ... likewise the 4k joeys must be wired.... so we'll see what gets installed.... and since the joeys will have a monthly charge it doesn't seem to make sense to purchase them... This stuff should be installed on Sat... and if there is any surprises I'll post the results...

The only reason to purchase joeys (or wireless joeys) would be if you wanted to turn them off once in a while - I bought a wireless Joey so I could use it in the warmer months on an unheated porch & turn it off in the winter, can't do that when it's leased.
