HOPPER 3 UPGRADES

One (reputable) site is selling Hopper 3 models for just $250. You do need to buy a couple other parts and do the install yourself though, but if you want to remain out of contract, it's something to consider.

What site has them for that? Considering all that I ordered, I got a REALLY good deal from DishDepot. It was good enough that it will benefit me to stay out of contract and pay for it myself by getting some discounts from Dish to stay.

Mark stated there should be absolutely no problem, I asked him specifically about it not being in the CSR system. He said there should be no problem with activation but to be sure and let him know and he would help.

I know he said there shouldn't be a problem but if you receive the Hopper 3 before they announce the release date I can almost guarantee that Dish will not activate it. I don't see how they can since the receiver does not exist in the system yet. The only thing I can think of is that they may be able to activate it since it's purchased and all they need to do it punch in the R0 number and Smart Card number. When doing a new install or upgrade I know it would be impossible since it's not in the system to select as a receiver yet.

As if he even needs to ask. Dish probably just automatically ships him one of everything on launch days.

When I had my SJ put in the upgraded my LNB to then new hybrid version and replaced my node with a solo hub. Can I order from dish depot and unhook the H2 and SJ and hook up the H3 without any other changes?

Yeah, if they already upgraded you to the hybrid, you should be able to plug it in, call to activate, and play

Maybe they should change it to Preparing for Shipping since they haven't shipped (or received) any yet.

Word I am getting is they still have not been shipped to retailers yet. And if someone did get one that there is no released public software yet.

Hopefully we hear more today.

DISH. But that's mainly because my wife will only use DISH as she does not like how the channels are laid out on DIRECTV. Since she watches 85% of the TV between us she rules... and of course the sectret to a happy marriage is always saying that she rules.

I had both when I worked for DirecTV. I can't stand the setup either. The whole system is just odd.

Anyone else who was jonesing for one of these things change their minds at the last minute? I even had it in my .sig for a while. Then I really thought about it and decided that mother and I are happy with our 2 Hopper 2Ks, I'm a good customer with a high priced package, am out of contract, and get discounts on my bill every 6 months when I call. I may lose some leverage if I get the H3 with the new 2 year commitment but I'm going to wait for them to call me, which may be a while after checking Scott's DIRT thread. It's up over 300 already.

I did at one point. But I sent one HWS back, activated my Joey and setup the EHD on the HWS I kept. I am 50 something on the list, so when I get my H3 installed Ill hook up the EHD and go about life

I was in an online chat with DISH this morning. She asked if she could help in other ways, so I asked her about the Hopper 3. All they've been told is that they should be available in the next 30 days.
