Okay I'll say it again. Picture quality is subjective. You may it looks the same , I say it looked better. Having the latest chip sets, encoders etc , would seem to me to give you a better picture quality. Every receiver I have had in terms of hd , has looked better to me then what it replaced. It could just be in my head, but I think the picture quality looked better. I know my new 2011 Toshiba 3-d Hd led tv surelooks much better than the 2007 Toshiba lcd hd tv it replaced. But is might just be in my head too.;)

We got it. OK. Fine.

Just accept - 722s and 922 has SAME HW related to video PQ so there is no reason to state: "I saw a better pq on my 922 than my 722k had ". Just ACCEPT the fact, not mask it in your replies. :)

Yes, available for activation on March 15th. ONLY TWO MORE WEEKS!!!

So, given that my local retailers seem to have their heads in their... pouches, if I call Dish themselves bright and early on March 15th, how soon could I have the Hopper in my house, do you think?

I have no idea. It's going to depend on how many people sign up for it that day and where you live. I know that if some one came here and asked to be installed the 15th I would schedule it as long as we had the equipment and we know how to do it.

I have known that the 722k and the 922 had the same insides for quite some time ,but that doesn't change the fact that picture quality is subjective and there fore beauty or pq is in the eye of the beholder.

Others answered the "when" part, so I'll just say- are you SURE you want to be one of the first installs? Maybe THE first install that installer has done? And without any feedback from anyone "in the field?"

Bactine will help with those arrows your back might collect. ;)

Gotta love pioneers.

You wanted to see a difference. You wanted to justify the price you paid for the 922. Therefore, you believe you saw an improvement in PQ.

Like I said earlier. I have the 922 and 722k side by side in our TV room and you can't see the difference. It's just the guides that you really see a difference.

You maybe right Hall. I did buy the 922 and in my mind it did look better to me in pq. That is why I say pq is subjective. Some say a new car is better looking than an older paid off one. That to me is subjective too.;)

It reminds me of someone who pays $150 for an HDMI cable and insists that they have better picture quality than they get with a $10 monoprice HDMI cable.

Or, a website did a "blind" test of DVD players many years ago and a budget model (under $100 at the time) did as well or better than $1000 Denon models or similar with a "Faroudja" chipset. I remember the uproar over at AVS ! Those who paid $1000 when they could have gotten the same from $75 refused to believe it. Pride factored into this a lot.....

Just as funny - spend enough time digging thru the FCC, and you will realize that a handful of companies makes everything, so your $$$$ BD player, uses the same exact hardware as the $50 one, just looks nicer.

Remote control blues? Not anymore!

Dish says I own my receiver?
