I connected a hopper plus myself as a retailer/ I had my Hopper 3 using HDMI to my projector, then I used the composite to TVs in the exercise room and office. When you connect the hopper plus, it disables the composite outputs from hopper 3. Only the HDMI will play coming from the hopper plus (which is attached to the hopper 3) The Joey 4s do not have any audio/video outputs, only HDMI 4K So my previous joey, I used the composite to the bathroom tv and another office. I was able to split the HDMI cable on the Joey 4, and send it to HDMI to composite out, to aTV 3 channel output. When I tried to do the same with the Hopper plus HDMI 4K output, the same splitter as on the joey4 that worked to spit the HDMI 4K signal, will not split the Hopper plus HDMI 4K signal, and/or even pass it through. I tried switching the splitter from the Joey 4, to no avail. Any suggestions on splitting the HDMI from the Hopper plus, so I can send it to other TVs? I also am having so many problems with the joey 4s losing connection, having to reboot the Joey and/or Hop[per my wife demand I re-install the older joey. So I called dish and they wanted me to pay to go back to the previous Joey, so I just disable the Joey 4, and installed a purchased one I had. Just some of my experiences. I watched the retailer video on how to install the hopper plus, and they did confirm that when using the Hopper Plus, all the other outputs on the hopper 3 are disabled. Any help on splitting the HDMI 4K output of the Hopper PLUS would be appreciated. Amazon is probably getting tired of me ordering these supposed to work with 4K splitters that I keep sending back. I am happy with the Hopper plus ability to access the streaming content. (When it works correctly) So disconnected several firesticks.

Thanks for the feedback. Just underscores the general contention that the Hopper + is not ready for prime time.

Like you at first it was a nightmare. Give it time to update and stabilize and now several weeks later I see a big improvement and very happy I stuck with it. Its far from perfect but maybe the word is usable/tolerable.

I believe the HDMI version on the Hopper plus is 2.1. So you’d likely need a 2.1 splitter and cables.

Let's see, the instructions tell you to unplug your existing HDMI cable from your Hopper and plug it into your Hopper+. If your existing Hopper isn't HDMI 2.1 then I doubt that there is a need for 2.1 cable.

The HDMI specs are 2.1. Those are terrible instructions with assumptions about your existing equipment.

That says compatible with, not required. Let me go back to what I originally said. HDMI 2.0 cables work just fine in the Hopper+ arena.

Trying to split the HDMI comes out of the hopper PLUS, then to 4K TV Since the Hopper plus connects to the Hopper, once Hoper PLUS is connected, all the video outputs on the Hopper 3 are disabled. I confirmed that with the Dish engineer when I took the training class last week.

That would be true, your Hopper connects to the Hopper Plus via a supplied USB cable (and you have to use the supplied USB cable). If you are doing any splitting it would be off of the Hopper Plus not the Hopper.

Yes, the cables that came with the joey4s, to a splitter. (They say 4K) The splitter I tried said 4k capable and worked on the out of a joey4, but would not spit it coming out of the hopper PLUS. I only tried to spit it to either my 4k tv, or the office, but not both at the same time. And the one from the joey 4 would not work either. I would think that it should at least pass the 4k signal through. Has anyone found a splitter/switch that will work with the Hopper Plus? Just either or, I do not need both HDMI working at the same time.

This is the one I use.

I feed one HDMI to the TV and the second goes into my HDMI capture dongle which is how I capture video from the Hopper Plus to post videos here. I do unhook the HDMI splitter when I am not using it and have the Hopper + directly feed the TV.

So if I understand you correctly, you take the HDMI out from the hopper PLUS, send it to the 4x4 matrix, and the hopper plus HDMI signal passes through to where you want to send it. Is that part on Amazon? That switch is $600 correct?

OK. The Hopper Plus is NQR.

And my Sony UHDTV does not support the Apple TV app.

David Attenborough has a series “Prehistoric Planet” that is available in “4K” but apparently only on Apple TV. Saw the first episode out of 5 on an older MBR 1080 TV. Pretty darned good. Maybe better in UHD?

So I must decide:
1. Just watch these on the MBR 1080 and figure future such will be off in the future when the H+ might be stable and fully functional.
2. Move my Roku Premier temporarily to the Sony 65” in our LR. This is doable, but not trivial.
3. Buy a new Roku supporting UHD and attach to the LR Sony UHDTV and pretty much write off ever getting the H+.
4. Order a H+ now and watch the series on the LR Sony UHDTV and suffer until it’s “fixed.”

You folks with the arrows in your back- what do YOU recommend?

Hmmm. Havta check if my Firestick supports UHD. Great idea! I so rarely use it, I didn’t even remember I had it.

PS- I am on a free trial of Apple TV and so far I expect to drop it by the trial’s end.

How did your Firestick perform?

After reading of other Firestick problems, I left it unused. Saw a $25 UHD Firestick and then decided to go with the WiFi 6 version for $50+ but again, reviews were bad. Bought nothing.

Need to decide on a WiFi 6 mesh for the house. Every time I start to pick one, something comes up and I put it off again. But any future wireless STB will be 6 compatible for future proofing.

Kinda moot, if we drop Apple TV because my Sony works with just about everything else.
