Dish sent me a new Hopper in the desperate hope that doing so would fix an EHD indexing issue. It didn't. That aside, I tried to move the recordings from the old Hopper to the new one via the transfer tool and by connecting the two Hoppers via an Ethernet cable. It failed spectacularly. The data transfer lights on the Ethernet ports of the two Hoppers flashed as though something was happening, but whatever conversation the two Hoppers were having was not related to moving recordings from the old Hopper to the new one. It's one thing to release software that's supposed to make life easier for customers; it's quite another to expect customers to catch any bugs in the software, call Customer Support, get a Tier 1 CS agent who reads off scripts and has little technical knowledge, and expect the customer to be happy with the experience.
