Will the Hopper still work as a DVR to view previously recorded shows?

I want to take it along camping where I know there is no sat signal due to trees. Just want to use it to watch shows already recorded on it.

Do I even need to connect it to a sat cable? Any special setup instructions or tips?

Shouldn't have to only to view anything that you have recorded on the box. If you want to test this now before you leave on vacation, simply disconnect the satellite cable from the Hopper and try to watch a recording.

When you turn it on without it picking up a satellite signal, it will sit on the "Acquiring..." screen for quite a while. Just hit either the DVR button or MENU, then the DVR icon.
