AGREE!!! You need to babysit some of these installers!!! when we had dtv the installer wanted to do a wireless setup with the C61K mini's 🤣 :coco:biggrin.. i had to tell him that he was going to his job the right way or to GTFO and that i was not spending money for a wireless setup that would have problems later on:mad::facepalm:coco. needless to say i pissed in his cherrios he didn't like that:clapping:wtf:biggrin🤣:facepalm!!! and if i remember right the C61K's are hardwired only 🤔
I always baby sit any workman I have to any service at my house. It is the only way to guarantee they don't do stupid crap like that installer did. I talk to them and ask questions and stay engaged the entire time they are at the house. It has worked for me over the years. Learned it from my mom. I used to think she was being nosey, but she knows when they are trying to cheap out and not do the work. She calls them on it before they can leave the house. ;)

Exactly, and c. systematically, er, systemically (issues were always "systemic") kicked us all in the teeth. Now he's on tv with Cantey talking about how he'll send these knuckleheads, er, technicians, to your home to switch your mobile phone service. Wonder if any local dealers are being used for that

One, there are very few local dealers left and two I doubt they're doing it.

Fly-by-nighters! When I worked for an RSP (20 years ago), I'd run across garbage like this on service calls. Now that my name (and RSP) is associated with the account, it was on me to make it right and this was even before the "one and done" period (IYKYK).

So, I basically had to do a re-install while the other customers on my route are calling dispatch wondering where the 'heck' I'm at.

I've done a lot of those reinstalls myself, knowing that my name was on as the last tech onsite.

Tech came out this morning and replaced the cabling and realigned the dish. Everything is now working (and looking) correctly. A special THANKS to brittanygarden for their concern, assistance and providing a solution for this. 😃
Always happy to help! Thank you for your patience throughout this! :)

When I was a new telephone installer in 1967 my supervisor told me, as he watched me make my first installation, do every install as if you were doing it in your own home. That has stuck with me ever since even in my own home.

With much of todays work force the concept of doing it as if it were your own home doesn't work either

the problem is that most do not want to be working & they probably don't have anything to show for their work.
that is why they do it the quickest, easiest, way....just to get paid

this is the very reason I absolutely HATE to have anything done. I will be going thru a kitchen remodel in a couple of weeks
and I dread it. I just know that something will be incorrect, missing or delayed.

Not if you do a little research into the contractor. Any good contractor should have referrals. If they don't, move on

If things are that bad. I just do it myself. It may be slow and take twice as long. You will know all the trouble spots.
Out here most are just handyman, and not contractors. You get what you pay for.

The DBS industry, between charlie & eddy et al. cooked their golden goose to death. Remember the cachet and positive buzz around satellite when DTV came out, how all the big electronics makers wanted in, how they could sell systems for $100s? And then DiSH, promising both great value AND great service? They just systematically killed all of their free goodwill with bad customer servicing including bad treatment of the very people who DO service
