I have had two rcvrs for many yrs (since dominion network started in '96) and discontinued service lately but would like to start up again after a break in service of about 8 months. Question is this: can I put my two old owned rcvrs - 3900 and DP501 back in service and use one out of the house in my camper in the mountains part of the year? Gets into the often discussed phone line hookup question I guess.

Two things....

1. Depending on how far away the mountains are, you may not be able to get the networks. (ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX..etc.) These are spot-beamed, so if you get out the area, you wouldn't be able to pick them up.

2. While at home, I would hook the receiver up somewhere in the house. NEVER leave it in the mountains while you are home. The reason is that dish could do an audit, where they will ask you to give them the location i.d. of each receiver. If you can't give them the i.d. because the receiver is at the campground, they will cut off service to the receiver. Then you will have a nice doorstop.
